Double success for new Devon homes

July 10, 2025 | In the news

With over half of new homes sold at our award-winning development in Sampford Peverell, it’s a double celebration!

The Orchards was recently named Residential Project of the Year (36 homes and over) at the Michelmores Awards.

Judges praised it as a “beautifully designed scheme” with “a strong sense of place, thoughtful landscaping and high quality finishes”, highlighting the welcoming orchard entrance, village green, allotments and trim trail as helping foster “a real sense of community”.

Adding that the development “goes above and beyond expectations” and is a “standout example of what an SME housebuilder can achieve with care, creativity and attention to detail”.

Edenstone operations director Chris Edge said: “The Orchards was our first development in Devon and we’ve worked hard to ensure that the homes blend in with the character of the area, while providing plenty of opportunities for residents to meet their new neighbours and enjoy the outdoors close to home. We’ve tried to integrate with the local community as much as possible, sponsoring Culm Sampford United, collaborating with Blundell’s School, working with local suppliers and contractors and trusted local agents Greenslade Taylor Hunt. Winning the Residential Development category of the Michelmores Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

The Orchards is a 60-home sustainable development taking shape across 10 acres of land off Higher Town.

The 39 private sale properties range from three-bedroom luxury bungalows to spacious five-bedroom detached private homes. Affordable housing accounts for 30% of the development. There are also three self-build plots.

“The housing mix at The Orchards was planned with local needs in mind, with the aim of reducing the housing shortage by providing energy efficient new homes,” Chris added.

“We’ve now sold more than half of the homes, and the development is well on its way to becoming a thriving community, as we welcome more new residents. We anticipate that all of the homes will be build complete by the end of the year.”

Current availability at The Orchards includes four-bedroom self-build plots with outline consent, priced from £200,000. Prices for new homes built by Edenstone start from £385,000 for a three-bedroom semi-detached Chepstow.
