Devon show home designers share their secrets

Blending countryside tranquillity with contemporary family living, a new show home is providing interior inspiration for homeowners and homebuyers in Devon.

We enlisted Blocc Interiors to style the four-bedroom Mathern show home at Willow Grange in Exeter,  to create a home designed with how families want to live in mind.

The result is a stunning home, with a palette inspired by the landscape surrounding the new community, which will also see a new country park created.

Karl Openshaw, creative director at Blocc Interiors, explained: “We’ve layered thoughtful, achievable design onto Edenstone’s exceptional build quality to create a space that feels both aspirational and attainable. A home that seamlessly blends countryside tranquillity with contemporary family living.

“The sophisticated palette of greens, blues, and warm earth tones was drawn directly from the Devon landscape. From the silvery willows swaying by the water, to the changing hues of the Exeter Quay and River Axe through the seasons, nature itself became the mood board. This connection to place creates interiors that feel calming, and authentic, a sanctuary that brings the beauty of the countryside inside.”

Every piece, colour and textile was carefully selected from current collections so that the show home look is easy for visitors to replicate.

“We’ve not just dressed an Edenstone show home, we’ve shown how exceptional building and inspired design come together to create a home that’s as well-considered as it is beautiful and as achievable as it is aspirational,” Karl said.

“The colours in the rooms of the show home are the same ones you’ll see dominating paint collections and high street homeware this year and beyond.”

The Mathern has a generous lounge at the front, with a spacious open plan kitchen and dining area, including a laundry area, as well as a cloakroom at the rear.

“In the open plan living space, a statement round dining table maximizes flow and conversation, while a thoughtfully zoned seating area overlooks the garden. It’s communal when you need it, flexible when you don’t, designed for real family life,” Karl explained.

Three bedrooms and the family bathroom are on the first floor. The main bedroom and en-suite span the entire top floor, offering parents a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of family life.

One of the bedrooms has been styled with a young explorer in mind and features a bird house, leaf motif cushion and bear toys and pictures.

The design team envisaged a teenager called Willow living there – with her name in lights above her bed. Styled in pink and green tones, with artwork promoting positivity, it’s an expressive and comforting that feels like a personal sanctuary.

“A simple hanging chair transforms this space into the room every friend will want to copy. It’s proof that impactful design doesn’t require major renovation, just creative vision and an easy installation,” Karl added. “It’s a very Instagrammable feature.”

Karl described the top floor main bedroom suite as a “private escape” where the team have created “a luxurious sanctuary complete with sumptuous headboard and a carefully considered colour scheme that whispers relaxation the moment you step inside”.

Current availability at Willow Grange includes a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes, priced from £275,995. For a limited time only selected properties are being offered with a choice of incentive packages including Stamp Duty paid or part exchange.

A number of homes will have potential for stunning panoramic views of the Exe Estuary and Dartmoor.

Willow Grange is part of a joint venture between Edenstone and LiveWest which will see 93 new homes built across just 10 acres of a 32-acre site. More than 22 acres of land will become part of the New Valley Country Park.
