Summer launch for new homes in Watchet

April 10, 2026 | In the news

As work to create new homes in Watchet gathers pace, we’re now preparing to release the first phase of properties.

Edenstone is building 139 new homes on land south of Doniford Road and Normandy Avenue.

Due to launch this summer, Underwood Gardens will be our second development in Somerset, following on from the success of Eden’s Green in Bleadon, which is shortlisted in the residential development category of the Insider South West Residential Property Awards.

Edenstone operations director Chris Edge said: “Edenstone has been building homes for more than 20 years but is a relatively new name in Somerset, with Underwood Gardens marking only our second development to launch in the county.

“Preparatory work on the land in Watchet has been underway for several months and we’re now reaching an exciting stage as we begin planning the release of our first homes for sale. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be building a database of prospective purchasers ahead of the official launch. By registering interest now, you’ll be among the first to receive updates and be notified as soon as the first homes are released for reservation.”

There will be a good choice of private sale properties with two to four-bedrooms, including bungalows. The housing mix is designed to cater for all sectors of the community, with something for almost every buyer and budget.

Affordable housing will account for 35% of the development including one and two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom coach houses, plus two, three and four-bedroom homes available for intermediate and social rent via a registered social landlord.

It’s anticipated the first homes at Underwood Gardens will be ready to move into at this Autumn.

Along with new homes, Edenstone will be creating a village green, a hilltop park with play area, community orchard and seating areas looking towards the Quantock Hills and the Severn Estuary.

To support the growth of the neighbourhood, Edenstone will make community contributions worth more than £750,000. Local pre-school and primary education will be the main beneficiaries, plus there will be funding for travel plans.
