Buyers wowed by new homes in Watchet

‘Stunning’ was the verdict from visitors to our recently launched housing development in Watchet, where buyers have the chance to live mortgage-free for a year.

Dozens of people visited Underwood Gardens during the opening weekend. The Edenstone development, taking shape south of Doniford Road and Normandy Avenue, will eventually feature 139 homes, plus facilities including a hilltop park and community orchard.

Among the guests was Chair of Williton Parish Council Peter Payne, who cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the sales centre and show home.

Edenstone operations director Chris Edge said: “We’re grateful to Councillor Payne for helping us celebrate the launch of our new homes in Watchet. Dozens of people have seized the opportunity to view the show home at the earliest opportunity – including nine sets of potential purchasers who’d booked appointments in advance. There was a good mix of local residents and those considering relocating. Some people travelled from Norwich and Essex specifically for the event. We served more than 70 ice creams courtesy of Styles Ice Cream and too many glasses of fizz and cups of coffee to count. Feedback from visitors was that the show home and the setting were stunning. One person told us they’d never seen anything like it.

“The steam train passing the new neighbourhood was a real talking point too. It helped visitors truly appreciate the stunning setting, with views of the Quantock Hills and open fields where horses graze. We’re now working with prospective purchasers to explore how we can support them in moving here. This could include effectively covering a year’s mortgage repayments on selected new homes in Watchet reserved before the end of September.”

The mortgage paid for a year incentive is available on selected new homes, subject to terms and conditions.

Prices at Underwood Gardens, which includes two and three-bedroom bungalows, plus a choice of two-storey four-bedroom homes, start from £299,995.

A small number of properties will be ready to move into this autumn, including a four-bedroom detached Burford, like the show home, priced from £469,995.
