Homebuilder kits out junior footballers in Hutton
A junior football team in North Somerset is sporting new home and away kits after teaming up with Edenstone.
Hutton Youth Under 14s netted £1,000 in sponsorship from Edenstone.
Team coach Richard Fisher said: “The sponsorship from Edenstone has enabled us to not only buy a completely new home kit but also an official away kit, which we’ve never had before. It means we don’t have to borrow from other teams, or wear bibs should there be a colour clash in matches or tournaments.
“Sponsorships are the lifeblood of keeping volunteer runs clubs such as ours going, especially amongst the junior section. Funding from companies like Edenstone means we can use any other amounts raised through other sponsors or fundraising events for other things. These include new training equipment, ground and clubhouse repairs or just fun days out or events for the players. It also gives us peace of mind that should we have any unexpected expenses we are more likely to be in a position where we can cope.”
Supporting the local community
The now Under 14s have been playing under the same lead coaching team since they were under nines. The team played locally in the Woodspring League for a number of years and joined the Avon Youth League in 2023. Since joining the AYL they’ve won two promotions and the cup and now play in the Avon Youth League Division One, considered the highest level of grassroots football in the South West.
Home games take place on Sunday mornings at Jubilee Playing Fields in Hutton, with winter training on the 3G pitches at Hans Price Academy.
The sponsorship is part of Edenstone’s wider support for local communities where it is building new homes. Edenstone is building and selling new homes less than four miles away at Eden’s Green in Bleadon.
Edenstone Group is also working with Alliance Homes to deliver 16 affordable homes in Weston-Super-Mare, alongside an area of green open space. Designed to meet local needs, there’s everything from one to four-bedroom homes, the first of which are due to be occupied towards the end of the year.
“As a team, the Under 14s are extremely proud that we still have half a dozen boys with us that joined at the of age of seven and that we’re the only team from outside of Bristol playing in the top Division of the Avon Youth League – not too bad for a little village club from the outskirts of Weston-Super-Mare,” Richard added.
Hutton FC was formed in 1977 with the Junior section following in 1996, making this year is the 30th anniversary of the Juniors.
The club now has more than 30 teams ranging from Hutton Comets which are a recreation pan disability team for children with SEND aged five to 11. There are also junior groups from under sixes to under 16s, a new formed under 18s team, three senior teams, plus girls’ under 12s and under 15s teams.
Hutton FC is very community-oriented, working closely with the Parish Council, fundraising and helping at various events. The club also hosts Fireworks night and the Summer Party in the village.

Sport isn’t just a way of staying active, it can help develop communication and team building skills. We hope the new kits bring the Under 14s lots of luck.”
