Buyers invited for a first look inside show home in Somerset

The wait is nearly over for buyers eager to explore a new community taking shape in Watchet.

Edenstone will launch its Underwood Gardens development for sale on Saturday, August 29 and celebrate the opening of a professionally styled, fully furnished show home.

Peter Payne, Chair of Williton Parish Council, will help mark the milestone. Festivities on the opening day will include a visit by local business Styles who will have an ice cream van on site serving treats “on the house”.

Located south of Doniford Road and Normandy Avenue, the new neighbourhood will eventually feature 139 homes, plus facilities including a hilltop park and community orchard. The homes will enjoy a stunning setting, with views of the Quantock Hills, open fields where horses graze and with steam trains passing by.

Edenstone operations director Chris Edge said: “There’s been lots of hard work going on behind the scenes since planning was approved by Somerset Council in summer 2024. More than 100 people have expressed an interest in our new homes in Watchet. Underwood Gardens is our second development in the county and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to the show home. The natural beauty of the area has inspired the interior designers who’ve styled the show home, with a nod to the nearby coast and countryside.”

There will be a total of 90 private sale properties across Underwood Gardens, including two and three-bedroom bungalows, plus a choice of two-storey four-bedroom homes.  Prices for the properties start from £299,995.

The show home is an example of the four-bedroom detached Burford. A thoughtfully designed double fronted home, it features a study on one side of the hallway, with an inviting lounge on the opposite side. French doors leading from the open plan kitchen, dining and family room to the rear garden offer lots of natural light, emphasising the spaciousness of this multifunctional room. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, plus the family bathroom. The main bedroom has a dressing area and an en-suite.

“Viewing remains an integral part of the home buying process, which is why we’ve waited for the show home to be ready before launching Underwood Gardens,” Chris added. “The sales team will be on hand to help guide visitors through the site and floor plans to help them select the property that best suits their lifestyle. Those who reserve early on could even find they’re able to move this autumn.”

Designed to reflect the charm and character of Watchet, the homes will feature a combination of natural stone and render finishes.

Along with new homes, Edenstone will be creating a village green, a hilltop park with play area, community orchard and seating areas looking towards the Quantock Hills and the Severn Estuary. Most homes will include electric vehicle charging points, supporting more sustainable living.

During the planning process Edenstone agreed to invest more than £750,000 in local infrastructure, with education being the main beneficiary.

The show home at Underwood Gardens opens on Saturday, August 29 and will then be available to view Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5pm.
