PLAY areas and a community hub are the latest elements of a new garden village near Swansea to be approved by planners.

Magor-based business The Edenstone Group is redeveloping a 35 acre site in Morriston, known as Parc Ceirw Garden Village.

Over the course of five years, the scheme will deliver circa 300 new homes, from the company’s two housing brands, Edenstone Homes and Bluebell Homes.

Set amid seven acres at the basin of the site, the community facilities for the new neighbourhood are the latest elements of the garden village to be given the greenlight by planners.

Edenstone Group sales director Adele McCoy said: “As well as building new homes, there’s a need to provide the facilities people want and need in their neighbourhood. Access to outside space has become increasingly important in recent months and so we’re pleased that our plans for a new community park at Parc Ceirw Garden Village have been approved.

“The new park will offer plenty of opportunities for residents to enjoy the outdoors close to home. There will be an equipped children’s play area, kick-about area for playing sports and a dedicated dog walking area, plus circular fitness trail .”

Adele added: “We’ve also received planning consent for a new community hub, featuring a studio and gym. Plus, we’ll be offering cycle hire facilities, available exclusively to residents of our homes. It’s part of our commitment to building for a healthy life and creating communities where people will love living. We believe these features will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, providing a modern multi-functional facility for local people to enjoy.”

Across three grass roofed single storey buildings, visually connected by a landscaped pergola, the community hub will feature a studio, gym, kitchen, office, disabled WC and bike store. There will also be an external decked seating area with sunshade as well as car charging and CCTV.

“Initially the community hub will be managed by the Edenstone Group but will be handed over to the residents’ management company,” Adele explained.

“It will be a real asset to the area, providing a focal point where residents can gather to socialise together.”

Along with providing much-needed new homes and community facilities, Parc Ceirw Garden Village will bring substantial investment to the local area, including funding towards the cost of three new classrooms at nearby Cwmrhydyceirw Primary School and highways improvements.

Between Bluebell Homes and Edenstone Homes, Parc Ceirw Garden Village offers a wide selection of properties including bungalows and two-storey homes, with prices from £182,995.
