The Green is only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre. Crickhowell was established around its historic Norman Castle. The acclaimed Bear Hotel was built in the 15th century and was an important coaching inn in bygone days. When the bridge over the River Usk was built in the 18th century, the market town prospered and became an important river crossing point.
