Edenstone partners with local agent to market new homes in Watchet
As we gear up to launch new homes in Watchet, we’re announcing that we have instructed local agents to help market the properties.
The first phase of homes at Underwood Gardens, taking shape on land south of Doniford Road and Normandy Avenue, will be released for sale this summer.
Independent West Country estate agents Greenslade Taylor Hunt will be supporting us in marketing the homes.
It’s the second time the businesses have worked together.
New homes partner at GTH Owen Setter said: “Underwood Gardens is an exciting new development that will increase the range of options available in Watchet and the surrounding neighbourhoods. The team at our Minehead office are looking forward to working with Edenstone and home buyers looking for a high quality, energy efficient new home.”
Edenstone is building 139 new homes at Underwood Gardens. It’s the homebuilder’s second development in Somerset, following on from the success of Eden’s Green in Bleadon. The first phase of Underwood Gardens will include four-bedroom family-sized homes, plus two and three-bedroom bungalows.
“Watchet is a fantastic coastal town, with an attractive harbour. Accessibility along the coast and to Exmoor is fantastic with many of those moving into the town having holidayed there in the past. For amenities, the larger towns of Taunton and Bridgwater aren’t far away as well as Bristol and Exeter via the M5,” Owen added.
“It’s likely that the strongest part of the market will be locals however migration to the area is common too, particularly with those moving from the Midlands. The area tends to attract downsizers and retirement purchasers more so than families given the setting and pace of life. We anticipate there will be a good demand for the new build bungalows at Underwood Gardens.”
Edenstone operations director Chris Edge said: “We’re working towards launching the first phase of new homes in Watchet this summer and then welcoming residents from the autumn. Partnering with GTH and having marketing materials for Underwood Gardens in their Minehead office is a great way to raise awareness of the development. It will also help us offer a streamlined service to those with a house to sell who want to move to a new home.
“One of the things that stands out about our development is that more than a quarter of the private sale properties are bungalows. Many of these will benefit from views across the park and mature woodland.”
Affordable housing will account for 35% of Underwood Gardens including one and two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom coach houses, plus two, three and four-bedroom homes available for intermediate and social rent via a registered social landlord.
To support the growth of the neighbourhood, Edenstone will make community contributions worth more than £750,000. Local pre-school and primary education will be the main beneficiaries, plus funding to encourage sustainable transport.
