GROWING families in search of extra space could find that a new home in a garden village in Gloucestershire ticks all the right boxes and more.

The South West is one of the most popular areas for those looking to relocate, according to research from Barclays Mortgages and when it comes to location it doesn’t get much better than River View Garden Village, Lydney.

The new community being created by the Edenstone Group boasts a children’s play area, bike hire and allotments, alongside new homes from the company’s two housing brands Edenstone Homes and Bluebell Homes.

Both are currently offering a 5% key worker discount on selected properties, plus the homes are all within the threshold of the Stamp Duty holiday.

The double dose of help could amount to a potential saving of almost £29,000 on a four-bedroom property on the Edenstone Homes phase.

Sales director Adele McCoy explained:

“People have been reassessing what they want from where they live – both the home itself and the neighbourhood it’s in – having had time to reflect following the Coronavirus lockdown. River View Garden Village ticks many of the boxes in buyers’ new priorities – the homes have generous gardens; there’s lots of open space for residents to enjoy including allotments and play areas; there’s the option to hire a bike or use outdoor exercise equipment as part of an active lifestyle. Selected homes feature a study and for those days when you need to go into the workplace, Bristol, Cheltenham and Gloucester are within commuting distance.

“Factor in that there’s no Stamp Duty to pay and the discount available for eligible key workers, and there’s perhaps never been a better time to buy with savings of almost £29,000.”

On Stamp Duty alone, someone buying a four-bedroom Faringdon style property would save more than £9,000, while key workers could see the purchase price reduced by around £19,000.

The Faringdon is available from £385,000 or £365,750 for eligible key workers.

It offers 1,633 sq ft of living space including a lounge at the front with open plan kitchen, dining and family room offering direct access out onto the rear garden via French doors.

There’s also a study, perfect for working from home either permanently or occasionally; plus a utility and cloakroom.

Upstairs, bedroom one has an en-suite and dressing room, with the family bathroom serving the remaining three bedrooms.

A finished example of the Faringdon will soon be available to view by appointment only. To find out more see https://edenstonehomes.com/lydney/ or call 07387 262 347.
